10 Best Creative SEO Ideas to Improve Traffic and Rankings

Hello Folks, long time ago since i posted an article so today our Guest Author Alice McLean has took some of her precious time to write for us in this site to help you all with Search Engine Optimization to improve your traffic and your all rankings. See how to become an Guest Author in My Blogging Techniques.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is one of the best ways, proven over time, to get regular traffic which makes it an excellent long term companion toward any business’s success. This traffic is not just any traffic, but highly relevant and targeted to online searchers who are much more likely to engage with your website. Most of it is even free, – but only if you know how to play the ranking game.
Statistics show that when people search certain queries, the first 10 results that list on the first page are the ones that get 90% of all the traffic. Not being on this page means your business is in the game for only 10% of the cake, and there are lots of others who want to eat that same piece as well. This puts lots of pressure on business owners to get it right from the first time. Here are ten interesting and creative SEO ideas to help you start raking in that highly targeted natural traffic:

It’s all about being social now

Google is the world’s greatest search engine. Their Panda and Penguin updates to their algorithms meant disappearance of thousands of websites in any given area. What these updates included (among the rest) was the social element of the businesses and websites. The more your brand and web content are being mentioned and shared on the popular social networks, the better your online authority and rankings in the search results.
Social media is now an incredibly powerful marketing tool for absolutely any business, small or large. This type of communication provides a direct bridge to your targeted audience, helps you build your brand awareness and carve out your position on the market. You can use just any network – Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube – to connect with your potential and current customers, as well as follow the latest in your industry.

Leverage local SEO

According to latest research there’s a local keyword included in over 40% of the online searches, and over 80% of these people go to the actual physical location, or call the store by phone to get the information they need. If your business is local oriented you can fill out a profile on online local business directories like Google Local, Yahoo Local, Bing Local or Yelp, so others will see it when searching their local queries.

Strengthen your onsite SEO

Search engines can’t recommend your web content, and business, in their results if their algorithms don’t understand what you are about. You need to make sure that every page on your website is properly optimized – meaning there are relevant meta tags, titles, alternate phrases and keywords, density – to give search engines a solid idea how your business can help their searchers.

Start a business blog

Blogging not only gives you another opportunity, aside social media, to connect with your audience and communicate with your customers more directly, but search engines tend to really like blogs also. There’s nothing more important to them than having good quality content that’s relevant to what people search for. And your business blog is the place to share your knowledge and expertise, and bring it closer to your readers. Relevant and useful content linked with your website and products/services will certainly get you lots of SEO credit.

Make sure to update regularly

Google wants websites with dynamic content and regular updates with new, creative, interesting and useful articles and blog posts. Users want the same. It makes you wonder if the company still exists if you visit its site and latest thing published was a year ago. When viewers like the blog or website they tend to come visit it again, so things must be fresh for their next visit.

Consider increasing the interaction level on your site

Search engines like it when people stay longer on a certain website. It shows them that the link suggested in the results was useful and relevant to the users since they are spending more time scanning through the information. Adding videos and other interactive media on your blog and website will keep people engaged for longer. This can also help you set your pages apart from competitors with less dynamic websites.

Publish and distribute some press releases

A press release can help you get your name and message out there. It includes information about your business and products, some news, or upcoming events you want to share with readers and gain more publicity. There are lots of free services to distribute your written press releases and get more targeted attention to your website.

Set a PPC campaign to bring more traffic

Pay-per-click campaigns go well together with SEO, particularly when the campaigns are used in relevant manners to promote certain websites. This type of paid advertising is not too expensive, will get you extra traffic to your website, and help you build your brand some more.

Try other forms of alternative advertising

If paid advertising is not an option, you should consider posting to Craigslist or another listing site to get more attention. These services can help you spread your brand info across the network, and if you optimize correctly you can even get in Google’s search results.

Consider getting professional assistance from a SEO company or consultant

It is possible to do most of the SEO work by yourself, but as the business grows and potentials develop you’d be better focusing on your core products and services, and distribute the optimization work load a little bit to become much more efficient and faster. And even if you decide you are going to do it all, it won’t hurt to get a professional opinion from someone who’s an expert in the field.
While implementing all these SEO ideas, keep in mind that it takes time to be able to see the results, and don’t get discouraged. If you invest the needed time and effort into this, you’ll certainly be able to see your business on the first page in search engines’ results.

How To Make A No Follow Link in Blogger

Every link in your blog is not only seen by the readers but also by the search engines. When Google and other search engines crawl your blog they take note of each link and follow the link to it's source.Of course as your blog grows their will be hundreds and eventually thousands of links scattered through the archives. Having search engine bots follow links is helpful in most cases. If in your current post you link to a post in your archive you are not only sending readers to that post but also search engines. However many links on your blog lead to a dead end like Log in pages, Download links or links to bookmark posts on Digg or Stumble Upon.
Did you know you can add a small attribute to links on your blog telling Google and other search engines to not follow a link ? There are many Advantages and disadvantages of 'Do' and 'No' Follow tag.
This can also be added to links to sites you may be telling readers to avoid, you don't want to be sending search bots to these sites. The small attribute that we add to a link to tell Google not to follow it is called the 'No Follow' tag.

How To Make Links No Follow

Below you can see the code used to make a regular hyperlink :

<a href="http://www.mybloggingtechniques.blogspot.com/">MBT Blog</a>

To make the link No Follow we simply add rel="nofollow" as shown below :
<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.mybloggingtechniques.blogspot.com/">MBT Blog</a>

It's that easy and the nofollow attribute can be added to links anywhere on your blog.

Note : While the nofollow attribute is useful and lets you be selective in who you give 'Link Juice' to don't over use it or start adding it to all outward links.

Did you know about no follow or have you used it before ?

How to make your blogger blogs as ‘Do-Follow’ easily

♠ Rakshith Mlore in ,,,,
As we previously posted an article regarding the ‘Advantages and disadvantages of Do-Follow and No-Follow blogs’.
After reading all the points in our previous if you still want to switch your blog to Do-Follow in an simple and easy way.
dofollow-nofollow-switch

How to make your blogger blogs as ‘Do-Follow’

  • Login to Blogger Dashboard
  • Make a Backup Before you going to do anything
  • Go to Template (‘Design’ in old interface) –> Edit HTML.
  • Now find the line (Use Ctrl+F to find easily)
<a expr:href='data:comment.authorUrl' rel='nofollow'>
<data:comment.author/></a>

  • Just rename ’nofollow’ as ‘dofollow’ and save the template.

If you make your blog as ‘dofollow’ you have to make a heavy strain on moderating on comments. The problem is with the comments spamming. If you want to revert to old position you can do it by adding the content which we renamed earlier in the above code.

Do comment below if you have any doubts.

Advantages & Disadvantages Of Do Follow & No Follow blogs

♠ Rakshith Mlore in ,,,,
If you have a blog and want to make your blog do-follow then ask yourself, do you know the advantages and disadvantages of making do-follow and no-follow blog. Some bloggers suggest to make your blog do-follow and some suggest for no-follow.

  • All outbound links will be taking place on link juice feature.
  • Many of your readers will post useless comments without reading your articles.

Advantages of No-follow blogs

  • Spam comments will not come to your blog. You will get only quality comments.
  • Real and after reading full article, only your interested readers will post comments.
  • Comment moderation time is so little.
  • Your comment links will not take place in your link juice section.
  • No-follow blogs free from attacking of spamming and black bots.
Because of quality comments and free from flood of links in comments your blog will not get banned by search engines.

Disadvantages of No-follow blogs

  • Search engine spider will not see your comment links.
  • Less number of total comments.
  • Many of your readers will not spread their comments because of no-follow attribute.
  • Your internal linking strategy might not work for SEO.
